I had perhaps one of the coolest first rehearsals ever for a project last night - we spent it at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The project, and NYU thesis film called "Leave Your Toys", depicts the fraught relationship of a man (Stephen) with his aging Holocaust survivor mother (Marika), and her desire to share her story with her young grandson (Peter). I play the mother to Peter and wife to Stephen, and my presence as a Christian woman adds more tension to the piece. The script is beautiful and moving - made even more so because it is based on the real experiences of the writer/director, Sam Barnett. Back to rehearsal at the MET - Sam wanted to give us a unique way to bond and connect as a "family". We walked through the halls, chatting as ourselves, then sat and read through part of the script. It was wonderful.

Excited to share that I'll be shooting a film version of the short play I did last summer, "Father Daughter Dance"!
I received the final cuts of the Bitdefender commercial and am super happy with the amount I'm featured! You can check out a short clip below and on my Video page.
I'm beyond excited to share that I'm now represented by the amazing team at The Talent Express! The Talent Express (TTE) is a boutique management company with 3 dynamite women at the helm who take a "team work makes the dream work" approach.
This has been 10+ years in the making for me, and I'm so very happy. Super excited to share that I filmed a commercial yesterday for Bitdefender, a cybersecurity company. It was for an online ad campaign and will be released in a few weeks.
Very excited to share that I just booked the role of an abusive mother in the short Columbia MFA film, "You Left Me Alone". The audition was amazing and so much fun (even with the subject matter) - largely because I clicked with the director and screenwriter immediately. I'm super excited to be part of this project!
Well, after a COVID-caused delay of 1.5 years, the showcase scene study class led by Jeffrey Zeiner that I'm in is finally about to culminate! The showcase will take place at 7 PM on August 30th and 31st at Studio 353 on 48th Street in Manhattan. I'm performing a scene from the play "Rabbit Hole" with the wonderful Elliott Ceasar. If you'd like a spot, send me an email: petra.denison@gmail.com
Well. And here we are again at close to the end of a show. It is always amazing to me how incredible they are and how fast they go.
You've got two more chance to see this beautiful, FUN production of Twelfth Night. Reserve your spot here. If it says full or waitlist, come anyway - odds are good we'll have room for you.
Rehearsals for "Twelfth Night" have been continuing these past few months - first online and more recently (as everyone has gotten vaccinated) in person. It has been so much fun to bring my version of Olivia to life.
And we open in less than a month - on July 15th! Crazy! Tickets are now available - they are free, but with COVID restrictions being in place, you are encouraged to reserve a spot. You can reserve your place here. The Greenhouse Ensemble put together a great "teaser" for the production using footage from recent rehearsals - check it out below! |
