At the ARTC (American Renaissance Theater Company) meeting last night, fellow member Margo Hammond asked me to read a role in an excerpt from her new play. To be titled either, "Horseshoe Empire," or "I'm the Law", the piece would tell the story of a turn of the century crooked mayor in New Jersey. I read the part of Kitty, an Irish immigrant and faithful wife. It was a great cold read experience, especially since it gave me the chance to dust off my Irish accent.
